Nikki Martin continues the family’s custom V-Twin tradition with builds that reflect her own style and a longstanding connection with Avon tires.
Plenty of riders inherited their passion for motorcycles from the previous generations. For Nikki Martin, fueling that passion in her kids is about more than creating a family legacy of V-Twin builders. It’s also about keeping the industry alive and forging new paths. And, wherever the Martin family rides, they’re getting there on Avon tires.
Nikki inherited her love of customs from her dad, Roy’s Toys founder Roy Martin. Following in her father’s footsteps was natural.
“I think it was that I wanted to spend time with my dad at a very early age,” Nikki recalls. “Dad started with hot rods back in the day, so there’s photos of me as a baby there with him tinkering in the garage. As he transitioned to bikes, I transitioned with him. I like doing something with my hands, and it’s something unexpected for a girl to be doing.”
That latter point is something Nikki celebrates. As a pioneer for women in the custom V-Twin scene, she gets a kick out of the surprised look people get when she points at a bike and says, “I built that.”
“As a female I think it’s really important that we grow the industry and get more young riders out there,” Nikki says.
“You want to be taken seriously as a female and not just be a pretty face. I’m very super girly and don’t fit the typical biker mold.”
Nikki’s builds don’t fit the typical mold, either, and they continue to garner accolades at bike shows. Most recently, Nikki’s Kraft Tech Softail Chopper, Lucky 13, turned heads at Sturgis.
The chopper has Avon Cobra Chrome tires mounted to a 21-inch, 40-spoke front wheel and a 16-inch solid rear wheel. The Cobra Chrome tire is available in hard-to-find sizes that builders love, so the Roy’s Toys family uses them often. In fact, the relationship between the shop and Avon began over a discussion about a build with a 330 Avon Cobra Chrome rear.
It’s not just the sizes that make the Cobra Chrome tire a smart choice, though. Nikki says other factors include, “The appearance, the handling, the price point.” In other words, the Cobra Chrome tire checks all the right boxes.
Lucky 13 now heads to SEMA for Battle of the Builders, and Nikki is working on a custom Sportster that will debut there. It, too, will roll into the show on Avon Cobra Chrome tires.
Just as Nikki learned her love of custom V-Twins from a parent, she has passed it on to her kids. Her son, 19-year-old Adrian, will compete in the Young Gun Division of Battle of the Builders with a 30-inch Bagger. And, of course, it also rolls on Cobra Chromes.
One of Nikki Martin’s customs took its place among the featured machines at the Motorcycles as Art exhibit during the 2026 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
